Join Miri on a mysterious and supernatural journey with her new friends, members of an underground St. Louis society known as the Partnership for Animagi, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters, better known as P.A.W.S.

REVIEW

P.A.W.S was the most adorable read I have read in a long time. The story is a bit nonchalant to me. It reminded me of that old book series my nephew used to read when he was a kid titled Animorphs. Instead of gaining shapshifting powers from aliens, and being able to morph in to any animal they touch.  P.A.W.S. uses the element of magic charms, and werewolf-ism to explain its teens animal shapeshifters. Speaking of werewolf-ism Kupfer uses lycanthropy as an actually disease,(which it is by the way.) BUT she uses it as a disease in a different way. I wont give it away! I found though the way Kupfer used it to be really interesting.

P.A.W.S. is aimed for the middle school/ young adult reader. I found myself  slightly hooked though by this exciting tale(No pun intended). The villain Alistair is a bit of a creepy attractive character. I loved Kupfer’s descriptive writing on the experience of shifting from human to animal. The transformation from human to animal scenes are the best I’ve seen. She really gets into the human/ animal mindset.

Overall thoughts...
P.A.W.S was really a enjoyable read. It is perfect for the age market it was made for. If you are an adult though, and love animals this is a nice guilty pleasure escape read.
