BOOK REVIEW: Risk Your Heart by M.J. Roberts

The first-place award-winning story 2015 Literotica Summer Lovin' Romance Contest.

“Risk Your Heart” A woman with a secret, traumatized past, who must confront her own beliefs, face great emotional growth and risk everything for love.
Leah could almost convince herself that she’s holding it all together if it weren’t for the devilish nightmares. She escaped from a harsh background, survived hard times, and is fine, thank you, working from home. Alone. (Who needs friends, co-workers, or a man, when you’ve got Netflix and a vibrator?)

Drew is a nice guy. Sure, he had one tough knock, but he was able to heal, and now he just about radiates goodness. He’s an EMT and an associate deacon. Could he be any more angelic? Guys like him don’t belong with people who are as deeply broken as Leah. Fate throws them together, but is Drew enough to keep secrets from Leah’s past from tearing them apart?

REVIEW

M.J. Roberts takes you on a steamy erotic, heart twisting read in Risk Your Heart. I’ve read some erotica and romance books before, but who knew an erotica BDSM book could be so DEEP! Risk Your Heart has a bit of depth to it that makes is stand out from your average erotic BDSM book. Roberts might hype this book as erotica/BDSM and it does have that scrumptiousness in it. The book also explores the human inner emotions. The risks of falling in love. We all come into a relationship with some personal baggage, but what if that baggage was a lot? What if it started to interfere with finding your happiness? That is the underlying story mixed in with a romantic steamy romp that is Risk Your Heart.

REVIEW

SUCCESSOR is filled with action, adventure, magic, and romance all the right elements for a successful Young Adult book. Here we meet Evan (Evangeline) who is our guide in this alternate world tale. After a graduation party goes wrong and a chase from the cops and toss in a thunderstorm it lands both her and her friend in a whole different world where Evan learns she is the Successor.

Miles writing is smooth and easy to follow. The world Miles creates is warm and inviting to the reader just as it is for Evan. The characters are well rounded, with everyday personalities and traits, making them human and relatable faults in all. Evan’s best friend Leila is a standout. She and Evan’s relationship is a passionate, loyal friendship that guides much of Evan’s decisions throughout the book leading to the books true core message of the importance of finding yourself and where you belong.  A great book for the generations.

BOOK REVIEW: DINOMORPHS - Back to the Beginning by Odin Gray

"What if you were sucked into a portal to a parallel universe? One where the dinosaurs never went extinct? One where they evolved to rule?

Sounds pretty epic, huh? Believe me, it is and not in a good way. It's been nothing short of a nightmare. From a casual Friday night at the beach to be chased through carnivorous jungles and the streets of their fortified cities, I just want to go home where the most stressful thing is breaking in my new surfboard.

Getting home isn't going to be easy, though. On this world, the dinosaur royals--the Annunaki—reign supreme. To them, our kind are nothing but dogs, shackled slaves to the Royal houses. The Annunaki might have bigger teeth, but with us, they are about to learn they've bitten off more than they can chew. We have a surprise up our sleeves, one that will make them see that no one holds our leash.

My name is Kellen Masters and this is my story--welcome to the world of the Marduk."

REVIEW

Dinomorphs: Back to the Beginning is pure magic filled with all the elements required for an excellent young adult book. In Dinomorphs we meet Kellen and his pack of surfing buds who are more than what they seem. In fact, they are a race of half Dino half human from a parallel earth when Dinos evolved as well as humans. The mythology of it all is explained in the book and is easy to follow.

Gray’s writing is spot on capturing the perfect tone of the teenage characters. His detail and descriptions are finely tuned, and it’s like you can actually taste the salt water in the opening surfing scene. I adored this book and would definitely rate it as a top-notch book for YA readers. Kids will dig the Dino teens.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Odin Gray is an Australian YA fantasy and Adult Urban Fantasy writer. He is best known for his upcoming 'DINOMORPHS' and 'Dark Realm' series. "I have always lived in my own head. As a kid, all I did was create stories and act them out. The more magic the better. When I read Christopher Pike's 'The Last Vampire' as a teen, it was all over. After that, anything that had fangs and fur had my name on it. I have lived and breathed vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters ever since." Both series follow their protagonists as they deal with the burden of leadership, love, and losses while navigating the world in which dangerous creatures not only exist in everyday life but inside them as well. Both stories tackle the age-old question "what is it that makes you a monster?" Odin Gray is involved with a number of animal charities and mental health organizations, particularly supporting animal rescue efforts and raising funds for teen awareness of depression and anxiety.
Odin Gray currently lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his canine master, Odin (yes, two Odin's in one house gets confusing).
