BOOK REVIEW: Phoenyx in Flames - Book One in The Phoenyx Series by Daisy St. James

As a child, Jane heard voices. Felt what others could feel. She was witness to the things that went bump in the night and could tell a person's deepest, darkest thoughts with only a touch. Until tragedy changed her life completely, thrusting her into the care of Hutton Grimshaw.
Esteemed chair member of The Order of the Flame, Hutton does what he must. Training young Jane to be the one thing the shadows feared. Now, at the age of twenty-five, she is known as Phoenyx, the world's deadliest supernatural assassin. The hard and fast rules change when she finds Judas, a vampire, suffering in a back alley with no memory of who he is, or why he's becoming more and more human every day. With a price on her head and the survival of humanity at stake, Phoenyx finds herself . . . Changing. Her true nature is slowly beginning to reveal itself and mysteriously, Hutton is the only one who seems to know why.
After years of taking down the supernatural beings that plague her hometown of Crystal Haven, Phoenyx finds herself teetering on the fine line between good and evil. While her attraction to Judas begins to consume her, growing like a fire out of control, one thing becomes undeniably clear . . .

If you play with fire, you’re going to get burned.

REVIEW

Slip into the sultry new world of Daisy St. James in her remarkable debut series Phoenyx in Flames. This the first book in this no pun intended HOT series! Doubtful at first St. James manages to hit my reader pleasure point as I found myself tumbling into addiction with this book. St. James gives us all the right elements we love in a juicy paranormal romance and then some. While a bit cliché at some points you don’t care you are under her spell and forgive.

St. James writing is crisp and smooth. She writes with bite and emotion. St. James main character Jane is the typical tough, gorgeous heroine chick you’ve seen before, but St. James makes her character alive in that she constantly battling against her natural womanly softness, well her just plain humanity. Let’s face it women were not all born hard and tough. Life makes us that way.

The writing descriptions flow clear as you read St. James world comes to life easily in your mind, and that is what I like and mark as a successful mark to hit when you are writing a book. Phoenyx in Flames is a gobble up book and the ending will leave you salivating for more!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Daisy always dreamed of becoming a writer. From the moment she picked up her very first romance novel at the tender age of twelve, she was hooked. As she got older and more ambitious, she wrote her first Young Adult novel, which promptly got devoured by her temperamental Hewlett-Packard. Since then, she's learned a lot about crafting an engaging story to captivate readers - and how to back up her work to avoid utter devastation at the hands of technology.
Daisy lives mostly in her head but calls beautiful Montreal, Quebec her home. She spends her days as a stay-at-home-mom/voice-over artist and lives to make her family as happy as she possibly can! She spends her time daydreaming up sassy heroines and hot heroes. Paranormal Romance is her life.
Her husband is the man of her dreams and you’ll find a little bit of him in every Hero she writes. Most of her Heroines have a little bit of her in them as well. In doing so, she’s made her love for her husband immortal.
