REVIEW

Noah's Quest is a charming children's fantasy tale with heart, adventure, and a lesson all wrapped into one that young readers fall into, not knowing they are being taught, thanks to the book's colorful cast of characters.

Noah is an active eleven-year-old boy on his way to see the village chief. Well, more like chased, but Noah has time to stop to help a bird trapped in a thicket. Noah then sees a mysterious cloud from the words compassion in thin air, and thus Noah's adventures begin.

Written by now 15-year-old Sev Pretila (He was eleven when he wrote it), Noah's Quest is Preila's debut. An utterly enchanting read, Pretila writes with child-like innocence and dialogue (because he was one when he wrote it). As a writer, I got caught in young Pretila's moments of over-detailed scenes at times. Plus, his transition from inner to outer dialogue, but for an average reader, it is probably not an issue. Pretila holds his own, and I am surprised at the surprisingly in-depth world and characters he created. Which I am sure young readers will enjoy being taken to.

My overall rating of Noah's Quest is a 4 out of 5 stars ****

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sev Emanuel Pretila was only eleven when he wrote the original version of this book,

which he initially called Nandi's Quest.

The manuscript would have remained hidden until his baby brother - Noah,

the namesake of the piece's main character - was born and inspired everyone

in the family to share it with the world finally.
